On October 9, 2016, I run the Army 10-Miler.

Help me raise $5,000 for "Heroes on the Water"!

My name is Chris Attig.  I'm an Army Veteran (1993 - 2004), an accredited VA lawyer (2007 - present), author of the Veterans Law Blog (2007 - present), a husband, and a Dad.

I'm also a runner.....and I'll be running the 2016 Army 10 Miler to raise funds for a wonderful organization called "Heroes on the Water".

Running has given me an opportunity to get healthy, center myself mentally, meet some wonderful people in the running and Veterans community.

Using my races to fund-raise for a variety of organizations is a powerful motivator for me to train and finish the race:

I know that every step is helping an organization accomplish its goals of service to our communities.

But much more than that, it allows me to tell you about  the great work that non-profits are doing, which they may not otherwise know about.

Thank you for your support!

Be sure to sign up for email updates on my training, photos from the road and races, and future fundraisers at www.irun41.org

HOW logo_color_jpgHeroes on the Water changes Veterans lives.

It's that simple.

I first learned about "Heroes" from a blogger friend of mine - her husband lost a leg in combat in Southwest Asia.  When he returned home, he was in a dark place and could not get back on solid ground.

His wife told me about the day that he spent out on the water with other Veterans, through an organization called "Heroes on the Water".

She calls it his "Alive Day".

Heroes on the Water brought her husband back to life.  He's gone on to start his own business, and do a lot of great things for Veterans in his communities.

You can learn more about Heroes on the Water here.  They are a small 501(c)(3) non-profit, but have chapters locally all around the US.

And they rely on donations from people like you to keep giving healing and hope to our nation's warriors.

HERE'S THE IMPACT YOUR DONATION CAN HAVE:

$25 – Provides lures, bait and fishing supplies

$50 – Gives a Warrior ½ day of kayak fishing

$100 – Gives a Warrior a day of kayak fishing

$1000 – Buys one outfitted kayak, or 10 “Vet Days” on the water

Every donation - regardless of amount - makes a difference.

Thank you for supporting me in the Army 10-miler by donating whatever amount you can to Heroes on the Water!

Your donation goes RIGHT to use - immediately - giving warriors healing and hope  through engagement with other Veterans in outdoors activities like kayaking and fishing.

None of it comes to me personally.

Memory Miles

Every one of us knows a Warrior who needs hope and healing.  Or maybe one that provided hope and healing to other warriors.

Maybe it's a family member, or a mentor, or someone you served with in the military.

Commemorate that person with your donation of $500 or more - not only will I run a mile in their memory, but I'll print their name on the back of the shirt I'll wear during the race.

And if you'd like,  I can share their story with everyone that visits this page: email me at chris@irun41.org
